The Iyalosa Osun Tinibu has been a Priestess of Osun in the Yoruba tradition for 36 years. She was introduced to ‘Ifaism’ when she was five years old along with her parents.
Born in New York and raised in Oyotunji African Village in Sheldon, South Carolina, she is the oldest of seven children born to her parents who are priests in the tradition as well. Osun Tinibu received her childhood formal education at the Yoruba Royal Academy which is located in Sheldon SC. Osun Tinibu has three children who are all priest in the Ifa-Yoruba tradition. She is also the grandmother of a very active four year old. The Iyalosa Tinibu has over twenty initiated god children and at least 20 other god children on the way to initiation. A devout Ifa practitioner she remains very close to her spiritual elders. Iyalosa Tinibu earned an Associate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Clayton State University. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Addiction Counseling and is a spiritual counselor, a diviner, and a facilitator of classes in personal development and African traditional culture. In 2005, she led a collective that founded Egbe Tiwalade, an Ifa-Orisa Tradition African Spiritual Community that has grown to be one of the largest Egbes in the City of Atlanta, GA. Egbe Tiwalade addresses Spirit. It was in this Egbe that she was able to gather the people and resources to give back by helping the less fortunate. She is a champion for the indigent and marginalized folk in the African community. |
